Set up the explorable creation skill
Install create-paper-explorable, then use it with your agent to build and improve an interactive presentation of a research paper.
1. Install the skill
Choose the tool you use and follow its instructions.
Local setup commands require Python 3.10 or newer. On Windows, use py -3 if python3 is unavailable.
Student subscription offers: ChatGPT · Gemini. Check the provider’s page for eligibility and terms.
2. Add your paper
- Attach the paper’s PDF or share a link to the version you’re using.
- Include its code repository and any explorable you’ve already started.
- Tell the agent who the presentation is for and any time or computing limits.
3. Start with this prompt
Replace the brackets with your details:
Use the create-paper-explorable skill to build an explorable of [paper and version] for [audience]. The paper and code are at [links or files]. Start by getting the full system running and checking it against the paper. Then help me break it into small interactive examples that we can try and refine, one mechanism at a time.
If you already have a working system or explorable, point the agent to it and describe what you want to improve. It can start with that task. Use a tool with code execution to build and run the system.
4. Try it and iterate
Open the first interaction, try its controls, and tell the agent what is confusing or surprising. Have it revise the example and check it again before adding the next mechanism. For slides, use the shared slide template.

Skill not showing up?
Open a new session in the project where you ran setup. For local tools, check for .agents/skills/create-paper-explorable/SKILL.md, or .claude/skills/create-paper-explorable/SKILL.md for Claude Code. Keep the resources/ folder beside it.
If it still doesn’t appear, restart your tool and check its skill settings or the documentation linked above.
